ART CITY BO - ARTE FIERA 2023

THE EXHIBITION, INAUGURATED ON 27 JANUARY AT THE OPENING OF ART CITY

ARTE FIERA BOLOGNA 2023, CAN BE VISITED UNTIL 10 FEBRUARY AT THE

SPAZIO ANTICO CASTIGLIONE IN BOLOGNA.

The exhibition of the Bolognese painter Alessandro Giusberti highlights the dissonance of a distinction between art of the past and contemporary art as a testimony of timeless art. Ancient canons and today's canons of interpretation can communicate with each other, live at the same time and be made evident in the works of a single artist like Giusberti who expresses himself in painting as in sculpture

without pre-established constraints. In fact, being modern or contemporary means having no limits to research, in all styles, including hieroglyphics or prehistoric cave paintings. A director is an artist: it seems normal that he switches from one genre to another for each film he directs, so why does an artist, painter or sculptor today have to represent only one style of art?

In Giusberti's exhibition it will be possible to see a portrait of a contemporary man painted in Caravaggio-like tones, or another that echoes nineteenth-century times. Or even a large picture of a mythological subject "The Centaur and the Nymph, the happy marriage", which instead reflects seventeenth-century situations. In the sculptures, which can be completely placed in contemporary art, he uses aluminum paper and plexiglass to represent the figures, which almost always interest him.
